7U Hawks Win Glynn Kenny Fall Classic Championship

The 7U Hawks capped off a tremendous fall season by winning the Championship game of the Glynn Kenny Fall Classic against a very tough Bethpage team.  Despite being shut out in the first game of the season by Bethpage, the Hawks still led the league in scoring and went undefeated for the rest of the season to earn the number 1 seed in the playoffs and a first round bye.  In the semi-finals, the Hawks found themselves knotted up in a scoreless battle until the bottom of the 5th, when the Hawks rallied for 3 runs and held on to beat Farmingdale 3-0 to advance to the Championship game.  As in the regular season, great pitching and defense and timely hitting won the game. In the Championship game, the Hawks looked to avenge their only loss of the season, which came at the hands of Bethpage.  Bethpage put a run on the board early, but great pitching and defense kept Bethpage at bay the rest of the game.  The Hawks scratched out a run in the third and fourth innings and held on to an exciting and nail biting  2-1 victory.  The Hawks 7u epitomized the word TEAM the entire season, as every single player contributed to this very successful season!  Congrats boys! Your coaches and parents are very proud of you!!

Rachel K Turns Unassisted Triple Play

On a warm early October afternoon the girls U8 Hawks faced off against Bellmore during the East Meadow fall classic.  Going into the bottom of the 6th inning, with unlimited run potential for Bellmore, the Hawks were ahead. Bellmore's first batter got a single. Their next batter got a single and, with an error in the field, the runners were able to advance to second and third. It looked like Bellmore was not going to go down without a fight. The next batter hit a fly ball in the gap between short stop and third base. The base runners, thinking it would make it through the gap, began to advance but NO, Rachel K, playing third base, snagged the ball and without hesitation stepped on third base to force the advancing runner from third out and make the unassisted double play. But wait, she was not finished. Rachel then chased down the runner advancing from second base to perform the rarest of all feats in baseball/softball the Unassisted Triple Play at only 9 years old. That play put an end to the inning and game for a Hawks victory.
